The Beastmaster is legendary. I'll accept no rebuttal.

Thanks! Yes, I'm really happy with the artist, and my agent was too. Enjoyed the learning process too. We'll see!

Although I was a big fan of some fantasy stories, most of them haven't grabbed me. What did grab me was Joseph Cambell and mythology. It bothers me to hear the word "myth" applied to things that are fiction or are misunderstood (a la the TV series Mythbusters). A myth is a story about the sacred, designed to help us understand some aspect of the nature of the Universe. If I think about fantasy as myth, I can totally see how you could crave it.

Exactly, yes. I agree on both counts. There is an element of "larger than life" and "timelessness" that really speaks to me in fantasy.

I also am very very very sick of irony. Fantasy can definitely be funny, but I've never been a fan of stories that don't take themselves seriously or mock the whole idea of story in the first place.

I can't believe you didn't mention "The Sandman" in either its graphic novel or TV form

Haha, interesting, it was in my first draft! But I confess, while I loved the first half of the TV series, I thought it kinda crashed and burned.

It's been so long since I read the graphic novel...

You paired the series Riverdale with the adjective execrable. Thank you. I feared I was the only one.

Haha. You know, I don't want to offend anyone, and people have said it got more..."entertaining." But what I watched, I thought was just. So. Awful.
